Message from the leadership team

Dear Airline Families,

Happy New Year! We are excited to kick off 2025 with a strong start and appreciate your continued partnership in ensuring a successful semester for all our students. This spring, we have important testing and exciting events ahead, and we want to make sure every student has the opportunity to participate.

Testing and Events – This semester is full of academic milestones, and we want all students to be present and prepared. Many of our events will require good attendance, so we encourage families to make daily, on-time attendance a priority.

Safety Reminder – We also ask for your continued support in keeping our school a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Please help us by checking your child’s backpack and personal belongings to ensure no unsafe or inappropriate items are brought to school. Your partnership in following school safety protocols is essential.

Thank you for your commitment to making YES Prep Airline Elementary a great place for learning and growth. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming events and testing dates.

Culture

Campus Safety

As we continue our mission to create a safe and supportive environment for all students, we ask for your partnership in helping us maintain this standard. Please take a few moments to check your child’s backpack, pockets, and personal belongings for any items that may be unsafe or unnecessary for the school day, including toys which are not permitted in campus.

By working together, we can ensure that Airline remains a safe and focused space where all students can thrive academically and socially.

1/22 & 1/28 Testing

Third, fourth-grade students will be taking the reading and math Common Assessments on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and Tuesday, Jan. 28. These assessments are aligned in rigor to the STAAR state test that your child will be taking at the end of the year. The STAAR test is used by the state and schools to determine a student’s readiness for the next grade level.

The Common Assessment will mirror the approximate length of STAAR assessments. It is designed to take around 4 hours, but students have the entire day to complete it, if needed. Teachers will use the results of this test to plan for reteaching content, provide interventions, create new learning goals for your child, and assign the support needed to ensure that every student grows and improves their readiness for the next grade level.

School Operations

Dismissal Etiquette

Safety is our top priority! Please follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process for everyone:

  • Follow Staff Instructions – Our team is here to keep students safe. Please be patient and respectful.
  • No Cutting in Line – All families must follow the designated carline route. Skipping the line creates confusion and safety risks.
  • Drive with Caution – Speeding or reckless driving endangers students, staff, and other families. A staff member was nearly hit—please be mindful.
  • Respect Others – We understand dismissal can be frustrating, but kindness goes a long way. Let’s model good behavior for our students.
  • Late Pick Up/ASPIRE: Late pick up begins at 3:40 PM in the front office. Aspire dismissal begins at 4:00 PM

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!

Weather

YES Prep is actively monitoring the forecast for inclement weather expected this weekend through the beginning of next week. Reminder, all YES Prep schools and administrative offices will be closed for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 20.

As of now, classes are scheduled to resume as normal on Tuesday, Jan. 21. We will continue to track weather conditions and communicate any necessary changes to the schedule via email, call, text, and social media. Thank you for staying tuned for updates.

Regarding Outerwear Policy

We want to remind families of the uniform and dress code policy regarding outerwear, such as sweatshirts, hoodies, and jackets. To ensure students stay warm, they are welcome to layer up with non-uniform outerwear when transitioning outdoors on campus. However, once inside a YES Prep building or classroom, students should adhere to the uniform policy and wear only YES Prep-approved outerwear.

Thank you for helping us balance warmth, comfort, and adherence to school policies and safety during the colder weather.
